Artist's Statement and
Bio
I
believe it is my purpose in life to bring more joy, peace, happiness,
and love
into the lives of those around me. Painting is just one of the
ways in which I attempt to do this. I find personal joy and fulfillment
in producing unique, personal, commissioned pieces of art for my
clients. To be able to understand someone else’s vision for a
piece,
and to bring that to fruition, is a gift to all involved!
I
enjoy painting scenes that bring a smile to the face of
the viewer... be it a personal memory, a meaningful portrait, or a
broader representation of a scene of nature. I work primarily in oils,
though I also offer renditions in acrylics, pen and ink, pastel, and
colored pencil.
A
resident of Cape Cod since 1997, I was born and raised in
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, started painting at the age of 13, studied
privately with Jeanie Moyer of Moyer’s Art Gallery, and followed the
art major curriculum at Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill.
After high school graduation I chose to not pursue art professionally,
but rather to keep it as my personal gift and joy.
I
started college as an Animal Science major at the University of
Delaware, later transferring to Gettysburg College, earning a B.A. in
Biology. A year of study followed at the Lutheran Theological Seminary
in Gettysburg as a candidate for ministry. Formal education then
ended for a time, followed by numerous jobs in fundraising, sales, and
marketing., and motherhood! I also earned certification from the
International Institute of Reflexology in the Ingham Method of
Reflexology. Additionally I have been employed for the past seven
years as Minister of Music at Christ Lutheran Church in Falmouth,
playing organ and piano each Sunday, as well as directing the choir.
