Artist's Statement
I
believe that it is our purpose in living to bring more joy, happiness,
and love into the lives of those around us.
painting is just one of
the ways in which I attempt to do this.
the common theme of
my painting is scenes that bring joy to the viewer... be it a personal
memory, a meaningful portrait, or a broader representation of a scene
of nature. We have so many things that we deal with in our daily lives
that have the potential to evoke stress. My mission is to offer
antidotes to that, that will bring moments of joy, and peace, and
appreciation for the simpler gifts of life, like splashing in the
surf, or napping on the beach on a summer afternoon.
I find personal joy and
fulfillment in producing unique,
personal, commissioned pieces of art for my clients ...
to be able to
understand someone else’s vision for a piece, and to bring that to
fruition.
What do I draw? Anything that
will sit still long enough to be photographed!
I work primarily in oils,
though I also offer renditions in acrylics, pen and ink, pastel,
and colored pencil.
What brings you joy? May I capture it on canvas for you?

Bio and
Resume
Born in raised in
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, I started painting at the age of 13,
studying privately with Jeanie Moyer of Moyer’s Art Gallery in Camp
Hill, Pennsylvania. I followed the art major curriculum at Cedar
Cliff High School in Camp Hill. After high school graduation
I made the decision, quite significant in hindsight, not to pursue my
art professionally. It would remain my personal gift and joy, but
not something to become “work” until twenty years later. Oh, misguided
youth!
Instead I started college as an
Animal Science major at the University of Delaware. In the middle
of my sophomore year, I transferred to Gettysburg College, where I
later
earned my B.A. in Biology in 1982, followed by a year at the Lutheran
Theological Seminary in Gettysburg as a candidate for ministry.
Formal education ended for a
time, followed by numerous jobs in fundraising, sales, and
marketing. Motherhood gave me the gift of my beautiful
daughter, Anna.
Art instruction continued
privately for 25 years with Jeanie Moyer. More recently, I
completed several courses at the Rhode Island School of Design.
I continue to learn from the many artist role models and mentors who I
meet along life's path.
Additionally I studied
for and received certification from the
International Institute of Reflexology in the Ingham Method of
Reflexology.
Exhibits and gallery showings
