![]() Oh so many places I could go under that title, but for tonight I simply want to address why I am having a sale in the gallery this weekend, against the advice of a gallery consultant. Earlier this summer, I was told to 1) raise my prices and 2) never, ever offer a sale. I did the first. But am about to defy the second. I do so for what I think are the best of reasons. 1) Artists evolve. Styles evolve. There are paintings in the gallery that have been with me for more than 10 years. While I still love them, and consider them sufficiently well painted to sell, I am ready to let go of them. Because... 2) I have a new body of work rolling around in my mind's eye that I want to paint this winter. And when the 2017 art season springs open, I want those to represent me. So - I must let the older ones go. Many are near and dear to my heart after being with me for so long, but that doesn't change my mind. Rare to use my blog to talk about selling, but I needed to put it in writing somewhere, and this seemed as good a place as any. Gallery hours for this weekend are posted on my website. Stop by if you have a moment - please - even if you are not a potential buyer. Say hello. And goodbye to some paintings. xo Me. WEBSITE LINK HERE
